XR Moment of Inertia Production Series

Product Details

General-purpose instrument for objects up to 250 lb / 120 kg. The XR series is designed for testing Moment of Inertia (MOI) over a wide range of test part weight.

Three standard models are available for test parts with MOI’s as small as 0.002 lb-in2 up to parts weighing 250 lbs. with accuracy of 0.25%. In addition to its use as a design tool, this instrument is fast enough for use in line for production quality analysis.

Most rotating machinery and all space vehicles require the calculation of Moment of Inertia of components and complete assemblies. While these calculations have become faster and more accurate through the use of computers, the exact value and extent of manufacturing variations cannot be known without making measurements.

Space Electronics XR Series instruments measure the MOI of any object regardless of its size or shape in a fraction of the time required for the MOI calculation and permit rapid accumulation of data for variation analysis.

For payloads of different sizes you may consider:

  • GB series for larger payloads (including fixture)
  • XKR series for very accurate measurement of small payloads
